The New Year is Here
by Paual Hines Lonergan

2005 is here. 2005 and we're still alive. It will be 20 years this year since I graduated from high school. Ok, do the math, now you know how old I am.

The motto for our high school graduating class was '85 is alive. Just think, 20 years later, we're still alive. Well, at least some of us. Just last year, a classmate James Galloway died. Heart problems from what I understand. He was so young. I know because I am so young. Too young to die or at least I keep hoping so.

Speaking of the New Year, many people are focusing on New Year's resolutions, some of them already broken. It sure is a noble idea. I'm not much into New Year's resolutions, but with the start of a new year it is certainly is a good time to start something.

This year, starting 2005, I told myself I was going to focus on more writing. Not of the book writing type, but more of a commentary type. Not just with Commontary On'but with other journals as well. That means I have to beef up on my grammar (a constant endeavor) and my thinking processes, so I can sufficiently get my thoughts on paper in a way that is appealing and interesting.

Well, how am I doing so far? So far, I've starting developing a new seminar and I'm thinking of a new book.

Well, I'm writing, right? I know, I know, I'm already sidetracked. But, hey, that's okay; I've got all year, hopefully, to follow through on my goals. Just taking one day at a time. I hope.
